Gad's Hill Place, Kent, England |
Dickens' Gad's Hill Place "....and looking up at it (Gad's Hill Place) with much admiration, he had been promised that he might himself live in it when he came to be a man, if he would only work hard enough." These words spoken by Charles Dickens' father sum up Charles' own ambitions and his fathers expectations. Dickens worked very hard indeed, applying his genius to his colourful characters, becoming the most beloved and admired writer of his time. By age 48 he purchased Gad's Hill Place. Our restaurant is a tribute to the man and his work. You will notice various articles around the restaurant and lounge that are reminiscent of his works and the wonderful characters he created. Your experience at Gad's Hill Place is meant to be both gastronomically satisfying and culturally rewarding. |
